News : Melbourne: Save Live Music Rally rocks and rolls
Despite ongoing talks with State Government and some recent developments, live and/or amplified music is still the trigger for high risk conditions on many liquor licenses. Today, over 10,000 music fans marched through the CBD of Melbourne to protect our small venues and community.
Chanting down Swantson and Bourke Streets in the city centre, the Rockwiz Orchestra and special guest Kram from Spiderbait belted out the AC/DC classic Long Way To The Top to the masses and countless television/photographer cameras.
With appearances from other high profile faces including Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Missy Higgins, Clare Bowditch, Wilber Wilde, Mick Harvey, The Dirty Three, Augie March, the Rockwiz Orchestra, Amanda Palmer (The Dresden Dolls), and various other personalities from the Melbourne music scene, the message is continuing to get across. In fact so much so that even members of the Liberal Party joined in on the cause by standing on the steps of parliment with placards that “they spent more money on than most of us did for our guitars!”
