News : House of Thumbs announce "Crossing the Rubicon" launch

By on February 13, 2010

Melbourne metal band House of Thumbs will be launching its latest album Crossing the Rubicon on March 5 at the East Brunswick Club in Victoria. The launch is the
culmination of a year-long production cycle that saw the band recruit Ren Reich (Reich Studios) to mix and master the 11-track work. Crossing the Rubicon is a
concept album in which the central theme of cathartic revenge is woven not only into the lyrics but also through the band’s art.

“It’s about a mean little man who collects…well… thumbs,” said guitarist Nick Lord on Triple J’s The Racket recently. “It’s violent. It’s heavy and it’s about doing what you want, when you want, because you want.” Already the album has received a positive reception, with pre-release tracks holding three of the top four spots on Triple J’s Unearthed Metal Chart during January, and the band is expecting a sell-out, urging fans to arrive early.

Entry on the night costs $15 and special guests include Scale, Empty the Throne and Demonium. Doors open at 8 and early birds can take advantage of half-price CDs.
