News : Demolition working on debut full length

By on December 29, 2009

Melbourne thrashers Demolition are hard at work on their new album, with some of the first details released. According to a recent Myspace bulletin, the album will be 11 tracks with 2 off their previous ‘Strike Force EP’. Rhythm guitars have mostly been recorded with D standard tuning being the band’s new choice, with solos, bass, vocals and drums still to come.

The band will also be hitting the stage once again on Jan 22nd at the HiFi in Melbourne. Orpheus and Elrazor will be joining them, as well as some others still to be announced.

For those of you who haven’t heard the band before, a few older tracks are up at http://www.myspace.com/demolitionoz . And for those that want more details, here is the band’s blog in full:

Hello guys and gals, just thought I’d drop a line and let you all know of the workings of the band as of late.
So far we’ve got a rough idea of the workings for the album, 11 tracks in total including 2 of which have been chosen from the EP. With Chris’s contribution of 3 complete songs and Rick’s lyrics added to them, it brings the total to 14 originals all up, of which of course 11 have been chosen to continue to be put on the album.
Rhythm guitar tracks have been recorded for 10 of those tracks with the new D standard tuning we’re using and the overall tone is sounding great. Some light EQ work has been done to the rhythm guitars with solos, bass, vocals and drums yet to come soon. We’re hoping to start knocking over bass shortly, Alan will work on his solos in the meantime and Rick should knock the remaining lead guitar parts as well as vocals down too. From there, it’s getting Chris Shep to record the drums last. At this point the final touches to the EQ and mix side will be made so everything suits where it sits in the mix and that’ll be the ‘demo’ side of the album done hahaha.
After this point, we’ll start working on ways to enhance the recordings with treatment on the rooms and further work on the EQ as well as the overall mix before proceeding with our final touches to the album. No stone will be left unturned on this and we’re hoping to get the best result possible from this. All the while, it looks as though Mick Simpson will be handling the cover art duties once again, as he did with the EP. More to come on that later though.
New songs should be posted online as they become available in their fully mixed form. Keep your eyes out for that as well as our gig at HIFI bar on Jan 22nd. Presale tix are available shortly through the band. Meanwhile, hopefully you’re listening to the song at the bottom in the player there and check us out live real soon.
Cheers
