News : Full list of winners from 2009 Aus Metal Awards

By on November 8, 2009

The full list of winners from the 2009 Australian Music Awards, held in Sydney overnight, have been posted on the events website. As expected, Tasmanian band Psycroptic dominated proceedings, however Perth’s Chaos Divine managed to take out ‘Best Band in 2009’.

Organisers Matt Willis & Natalie Meisenhelter commented:

The 2009 Australian Metal Awards was designed to highlight the great talent we have in this country and while technology let us down the bands certainly did not. Our greatest thanks go out to the bands who each put on a great show. Thank you very much to Bane of Isildur, Eyefear, Death Audio, Five Star Prison Cell, Ouroboros,  A Secret Death,  Chaos Divine and of course Sadistik Exekution.

At the last moment before doors, our visuals that were designed to control the show and special video messages failed us and therefore a last minute decision needed to be made which completely changed the flow of the evening. A special thank you to our friend Deryk from Anger Management (Metal Radio show based in Perth) who stepped up and saved the day by becoming part of the show and presenting each of the awards.  While extremely disappointing that all of this time and effort had gone to waste we were extremely happy with the effort that Deryk gave in saving the day.  Also thanks must go to Ben Willis (Letters of Carnage) and David Anderton (Chaos Divine) for doing everything they could to try and fix the situation.

We thank every single person who made the effort to come along and show their support especially to those who had travelled from overseas and interstate. Congratulations to the winners of each of the categories  (listed below)  especially Chaos Divine for taking out the award for Overall Best Band for 2009.

Thank you again to our sponsors JMC Academy, Inferno Guitars, TSP Merchandise, Utopia, Billy Hydes Imports and also to our good friend Jon Hocking Design Studios and all the guys of Aeon of Horus for allowing us to use their music in our opening segment which unfortunately was unable to be used but will be made available online in the near future.
