As most of you already know the first annual Australian Metal Awards were held on Saturday night in Sydney. Unexpectedly, MetalObsession.net has been taken out the ‘best metal mag/fan/webzine’ award, edging out Pyromusic.net and Blunt Magazine!

Well, we can safely say that we honestly didn’t expect to actually win this award! A stereotypical answer for someone who’s just won, yes, but after only a year and a half online, and up against such established media as Blunt and Pyro, we thought we’d get a polite ‘thanks for entering but you’ve come 3rd!’

Thanks go out first and foremost to our readers and loyal forumers, who keep our passion high. Thanks also to all in the scene that we have worked with, with extra shout outs to Matt and Natalie – organisers of the Aus Metal Awards, Tim Charles from Welkin Entertainment who jumped on board very early, Dysie from Soundworks/Prime Cuts, Jeanna from Stomp, Chris from RIOT!, the gangs at JSR, KMW/Soundwave, Roadrunner and everyone else that has in some way contributed to the site – especially our contributors who provide a huge amount of content which keeps the site looking good!

Where do we go now, well we will continue to bring you your daily fix of Australian Metal news, and we also have some cool ideas to further improve the site and hopefully go back-to-back next year!
