This winter Metal Obsession is heading off to the sun and sights of Europe in the summer! We will be reporting back on the metal and rock festival scene in Europe with photo galleries and daily reviews from each festival.

Novarock is 5 this year, and has brought an awesome line up with it to Austria. Featuring headliners Faith No More, Metallica, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, to name but a few. For more info or to buy tickets head to their website.

Metaltown is a two day festival featuring metal music bands from around the world. Held in Gothenburg, Sweden, it has been arranged annually since 2004, taking place at the Frihamnen venue. 2009’s lineup boast’s bands such as Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Opeth, Napalm Death, and Disturbed.

Roskilde Festival is Denmarks answer to the Glastonbury festival, only better, and actually featuring metal, but diversity is the word when talking about Roskilde: Amon Amarth, Slipknot, Darkane, Satyricon, Goijira, Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis and Faith No More to name but a few! Taking place between july 2-4.

Wacken is 20 in 2009, so MO thought we may aswell drop in as part of this feature! The mecca of the European festival circuit, W:O:A is held in northern Germany in a small town called, yep, Wacken (pronounced ‘Vacken’ for the uniniatiated Aussie!). This years line up includes: In Flames, Heaven And Hell, Motorhead, Amon Amarth, Testament, and UFO to name but a few!
