News : Voyager and TToL win WAM song of the year award
Voyager and Tangled Thoughts of Leaving have taken out the Metal and Experimental awards respectively at the 2009 WAM Song of the Year awards held in Perth last week, the event’s 20th anniversary.
The awards which recognise, by popular vote and industry vote, the best songs from Western Australian in each genre from the past year carry a prize of $500 and one day recording time in a professional studio. The major prize of ‘Song of the Year’ – won by Pop act Umpire carries a prize of $5,000 cash, a 3 day recording session supplied by Poon’s Head Recording Studio, a mastering session with James Hewgill Music, the pressing of 500 CDs by DiskBank, and the opportunity to sign a publishing deal with Shock Music Publishing..
