News : Dred change name to Ouroboros

Sydney Technical Death Metal band Dred has announced a change to the band’s name, and will now be known as ‘Ouroboros‘. Read the band’s press release below.

“After much thought and preparation we have decided to change the band name. It was a unanimous decision that we needed a more powerful and meaningful title that more suitably reflects what we are about and better fits our musical and lyrical themes.

From here on forward DRED will be known as OUROBOROS.

Our new MySpace page is already up and running and a new merch line is due shortly and the designs can already be viewed on this new page – www.myspace.com/ouroborosmetal

The current DRED MySpace will remain active for quite some time to come in order to help inform the fans of the name change.  Our upcoming full length will be released under our new name.

Let us stress that despite the name change, the bands line up, the music and our goals remain the same. “

The bands next gig will be on the Sydney leg of the ‘Unleashing The Extreme’ tour, featuring Psycroptic, The Amenta and Ruins. The gig takes place at The Manning Bar on June 20th, 2009.
