Aeon of Horus is a progressive death metal band from Canberra, Australia. The band has recently released their debut album “The Embodiment of Darkness and Light”. Since the release in November 2008, this hardworking band has turned its focus on promoting the album by lining up live performances and filming a music video for the album’s introductory track 3C321. The band is comprised of serious musicians that are committed to achieving success worldwide.
Aeon of Horus formed in 2006 and began playing live in early 2007. By late 2007 they had recorded and released a self-titled EP. Songs from the EP were played on Australia’s Triple J Radio program “Full Metal Racket” where host Andrew Haug commented “This is one band to watch out for.”
The band continued to write and in early 2008 they began recording their first full length album, “The Embodiment of Darkness and Light.” While their EP hinted at the intensity and superior musicianship of Aeon of Horus, this full length release showcases the culmination of their efforts in an epic sensory experience as Aeon of Horus delivers with a complete package for their fans.
Though the album is released independently, the quality of the entire package is on par with any major label. “The Embodiment of Darkness and Light” includes 10 unrelenting tracks. All songs were written and performed by Aeon of Horus. Aeon of Horus drummer Ben Hocking has his own recording studio and acts as engineer. Scott Carter of Dark Corpse Studios was enlisted to help record, produce, mix, and engineer the tracks which were then mastered by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) at Split Second Sound in the Netherlands. The artwork of Jon Hocking Design Studio provides the perfect backdrop in which to become immersed in the album’s theme of humanity pushing boundaries in a limitless universe which is cycling through aeons of destruction and rebirth.
Aeon of Horus also delivers live with a commanding and powerful performance. They began playing live in early 2007 and have played numerous shows to date. They have played throughout their hometown of Canberra and interstate. They intend to play overseas as opportunities arise. They have supported well known metal acts such as Pig Destroyer (USA), The Berzerker (VIC), Psycroptic (TAS), The Amenta (NSW), Terrorust (VIC), and Frankenbok (VIC) and consistently receive praise from established bands while winning over new fans. They received an overwhelming response at their album launch where they were supported by Dred (NSW) and Sword Toward Self (NSW). At this show, their high energy performance led fans to call them back onstage for an encore where they debuted a new song.
Aeon of Horus will continue to turn heads with continuous live performances, a music video, and new material coming in 2009.
