News : Dawn of Retribution searching for bass player

Geelong based progressive metal band DAWN OF RETRIBUTION requires competent bass player to complete line up. The band writes:

The Music:
Our music is a blend of everything that we listen to and enjoy. We play for ourselves and constantly are pushing to create something new and interesting as well as pushing ourselves musically and in turn our own capabilities. We incorporate elements of mainly thrash, death and progressive metal however we do deviate into the more melodic and instrumental styles to allow the music to open right up into cool jams. The tempos vary from slow melodic to ultra fast thrash, so ability to deal with quick variations in tempo is important. As is the ability to play tightly at faster tempos. We are also open to any new ideas presented and will not be simply showing the bass player what to play. You will be required to do a majority of the writing to what we already have.

The Band:
The band has been active for nearly 2 years and have played over 50 live shows in Melbourne, Geelong and interstate. We are still very much in the process of building a reputation on the live scene and stick mainly to support slots for bigger bands. We have shared the stage with bands such as Frankenbok, Blood Duster, Psycroptic, Dreadnaught, Five Star Prison Cell, The Ocularis Infernum, Embodied, Lynchmada, Urgrund, Bel’akor and many others. We are about to record a debut full length album and will be looking at touring for this release sometime later in the year. This will mean interstate travel and ability to take the occasional time off work if necessary. We all have full time jobs as well, so its not going to be too extreme, but some flexibility is required at times.

Selection criteria:
– must be able to work with complex arrangements and timings
– must be able to learn material quickly
– must possess high-moderate to advanced skill level
– solid playing essential, we endeavour to be as tight as possible
– playing with either fingers or pick is fine
– bass players that simply double the guitar need not apply
– experience in a band not vital, but ability to adapt to our environment is essential
– own quality gear preferred, although we do have access to top range ampeg equipment
– must fit into the fold, morons and egos will not be tolerated
– willing to be innovative and bring a fresh perspective to the music, and in turn adapt to our new concepts
– ability to contribute material and ideas is a must, we are very creative and constantly writing and exploring new areas in our music

All this sounds pretty specific, but we are interested in looking at any competent bass players regardless, so if you play bass and feel like you have something to contribute we would be more than interested in speaking with you.
