News : Angry Anderson helps launch 'Get Connected' campaign

By on April 30, 2008

ROSE TATTOO frontman Angry Anderson will join audiologists today to launch ‘Get Connected‘, a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of being exposed to noise levels exceeding 85 decibels. Audiologist Chris Brew said as little as 15 minutes of listening to music at a high level could start to cause damage.

Anderson started losing his hearing when he worked as a fitter and turner in his 20s. His hearing loss became more profound following years of performing in concerts and he now wears a hearing aid.

MP3 players and iPods are being blamed for an increasing number of teenagers and young adults going deaf from overexposure to noise. At least one in six Australians has permanent hearing damage and that figure is expected to skyrocket in the next decade.
