Interviews : Knightmare – 21/02/2008

I had the chance to chat with MICKoWAR vocalist from Knightmare in regards to their recent EP launch and what the future holds for Knightmare.

TJ – I am here with MICKoWAR from Knightmare how you are Mick.

MICKoWAR – Hey man how’s it going?

TJ – For all those people out there who don’t know you guys what is Knightmare?

MICKoWAR – Knightmare is set to become one of the more epically known metal bands from Australia to the rest of the world.

TJ – What style would you class yourselves?

MICKoWAR – Well, while some people would just mark us as power metal, we tend to call it more so a traditional metal style with elements of both power and thrash metal genre’s.

TJ – What do you do in the band?

MICKoWAR – Vocals.

TJ – How long have you been together as a band?

MICKoWAR – It all began in the late 2005 months and has only picked up pace since then.

TJ – And you’re unsigned?

MICKoWAR – Yes, until we are ready to go for who we are after.

TJ – So I am guessing you have a manager in mind?

MICKoWAR – Well, we are all fairly confident in our songs, as we love playing them all week long practicing at home and still aren’t all that sick of them, so we would like to think that a label such as LMP, nuclear blast or if we were really lucky road runner would sign us. I do all of the managerial tasks for the band.

TJ – So you had your EP launch on Feb. 16th how did that go?

MICKoWAR – If I may… FUCKING AWESOMELY!!!! Had a great turn out, great response from everyone, everything that we had control of went really well!! (unfortunately not the sound!) Other then that, I couldn’t have planned a better night, unless it’s for the album launch next year.

TJ – Its great to here it was such a great night for you guys.

MICKoWAR – Yeah we were all wrapped.

TJ – So was the turn out what you thought it would be?

MICKoWAR – It was what I hoped it to be lol, which was more then I thought would come.

TJ – So what is this Team America thing that I heard about on the night?

MICKoWAR – Haha we did it as a part of a medley we played which included songs from Iron maiden, Helloween, Megadeth, slayer and iced earth, all the greats.
Mind you we metalised the Team America thing and the crowd went nuts over it and really got their attention.

TJ – So for the EP launch was the CD for sale last night or will it be out soon?

MICKoWAR – Yeah it was all for sale, even though we gave heaps away.

TJ – And for anyone looking to purchase the CD where do they find it?

MICKoWAR – They can either go to metal emporium when they get it in stock, or send us some mail to info@knightmaremetal.com and work out which ways best to purchase it with us!

TJ – And for anyone who doesn’t know we will be offering the EP CD as a giveaway in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned

TJ – So you have had your EP launch, the band seems to be going strong, what’s next for you guys?

MICKoWAR – We are planning on writing more songs for the album which we are looking to start next year, and to extend out set list and stage performance in every way possible.

TJ – So how did you come up with the artwork for the album cover?

MICKoWAR – Back when we started the band my girlfriend was getting into graphic design and painting, so I just said paint us something which just says METAL all over it and she came up with UNHOLY a year before the CD was finished! Haha

TJ – Hehe that’s awesome

MICKoWAR – Hehe yeah man

TJ – Do you have any stories to tell from the recording studio?

MICKoWAR – Well the average recording session ended with myself and Luke retiring to watch chasers war on everything with very nice pizzas and bourbons, other then that it was all hard work and we are all glad we put it in!

TJ – Sounds like a good time

MICKoWAR – For sure
