Interviews : Helloween (Sascha Gerstner) – 23/01/2008

I had the chance to have a quick chat with Helloween guitarist Sascha Gerstner and asked him about helloween’s latest endeavors and what they have in store for us whilst here in Australia and the plan for 2008.

TJ – Sascha how are you finding the success with the release of Gambling with the Devil?

Sascha – Hi Tj, The reactions for Gambling with the Devil are awesome everywhere.
Many have said that this is the best album we have did in years and even some saying it’s the best album we have ever done. We are very proud of the album and can’t wait to play in Australia.

TJ – What are your thought’s coming down to Australia and will you be checking some of our sites whilst your here?

Sascha – It’s the first time ever Helloween is playing “Down Under” we are very excited.
We heard from a lot of metal bands that you have a very active metal scene there (In Australia).
I don’t know if we will have time to check out some of the sites down there due to our schedule but I hope that we can see a little bit of your country.

TJ – You are touring with two of Australia’s greatest metal bands, Black Majesty and Vanishing Point which is going to be one hell of a concert for us metal fans. Have you heard much of either band?

Sascha – I haven’t heard that much about them but from what I have been told I am sure it will be a good package.

TJ – With the release of the new album last year and the release of the DVD it seems that Helloween is on the top of its game, what is the next big thing planned for Helloween?

Sascha – In February we will tour Japan and Asia and have three gigs in Australia.
In April/May we will be 4 weeks in South America.
In summer we do a lot of festivals and September follows with a Russian tour.
October is planned for the US and Canada.
In 2009 we will release something very special; something that Helloween have never done before….. Stay tuned for more news within the next months.

TJ – What would you say would be your favorite Helloween song(s)?

Sascha – My favorites would be the ones from the new album like Paint a New World and Dreambound.
